CASSIUS

outstanding qualities will surely create the new age
eventing horse”

MONOGAL
Dam of Cassius.
Now deceased, a peaceful end after a life
of service and an 'indulged' retirement.
MAJOR SIRES OF INFLUENCE
We have always carefully selected the lines we breed in an attempt to ensure that every foal that hits the ground
will have the talent and capability for a top performance horse. We neither have the room or the motivation to
breed quantity so we don't take chances.
You will notice in our mares and stallion selections there are three major sires of influence in our breeding
program:
Cor de la Bryere
The "Corde" actually originated from Normandly France (Selle Francais) born in 1968 an Approved (Holsteiner
Verband) in 1971.
"His heritage of rideability, handiness, form and bascule over fences aided in bringing the Holsteiner breed to
even greater international importance."*
There have been a number of notable sires imported into Australia carrying his line including Cooperit, Contango
II, Contact, Cavallo etc.
COR DE LA BRYERE
Farnese
1960 - 1982, Farnese is described by Dr Dietrich Rossow * as "Imposing, big framed, most important of all sires."
He goes on to say "Prepotent sire par excellance! The best type sustaining stallion endowed with the Holsteiner
performance assets, especially in trot and jumping ability."
You will recognise this line in Australia as the Falkland horses such as Falkland, Falkland II, Falklands Victory,
Falkrich
Argentinus
Acclaimed as the most successful llving stallion in all Germany. Aleppo S-OLD with Isabell Werth and Albano
with Heike Kemmer - team gold medal winner in the 2001 German European Championships are Argentinus'
presently most famous off-spring.
You will reconise this line in Australia as the Argentinus (via frozen semen), Aachen and Aalto horses.

CASSIUS CLAY (Dec)
By Contango II (Imp/Dec) Out of Belcam Aadelaide
(Falkland/Aachen)
11th October 1995 to 2nd November 2001
Cassius Clay was bred by Nic & Sahra English of Cildara Stud. We
purchased Cass at 18 months old from the 1997 Belcam Auction (then
named Chicaago).
At a 4yo he returned to Belcam to stand at stud for the 2000 and 2001
seasons and begin his competition career. Cass had only begun his
career in Dressage and Show Jumping and was already showing all the
promise of a true champion.
We are grateful to our old friend that he has passed his talent and
temperament on to his progeny.
